Vinyl Records Making A Comeback!

Dear Readers,

We believe that to many of you (including our friendly HI5LOFT Crew here), vinyl records certainly do bring back the sweetest memories while growing up in the 1960s-70s and when rock n roll truly rocked our world! In those days, it was such a common sight and norm to see one of those 12 inches black disks spinning on a turntable in your friend's home or in a coffee house while Elvis Presley (the "meow" king) and the Beatles totally ruled.

In today's world and context, the younger or "Apple" generation will no doubt find vinyl records a rarity. Growing up and being exposed to mainly only iMacs, iPads and iPhones, this generation of music lovers will soon enough find vinyl a cool alternative to the gadgets that they have grown accustom to, i-kid-you-not. Indeed, some of our peers are keeping records passed down and even sourcing for rare finds for investment purposes. They believe that some out of press titles (like The Beatles, Ella Fitzgerald, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Teresa Teng and Tsai Chin) can fetch you many times of the value you will have to fork out for in the future. A recent example would be where we had a reader's request to look for Pearl Jam 4 LPs set which is out of press since 2002. With our contacts and through sourcing out, we were told that there is only one set available where the asking price is S$4,000! According to another one of the articles in the internet, the top vinyl titles can fetch up to US$10,000. How do we at Hi5loft see this trend? Well, let us put it simply that this trend is here to stay and will defintely even grow further. Collectibles will always remain collectibles, simply due to their sentimental value to an individual and the quality will being more "real".

Last week, we imported the Michael Jackson Thrill 25 from United States.  We hope our fellow music lovers are enjoying the record now with their audiophile setup.  In the coming weeks, we will release our collections from The Beatles, so stay tune for the latest updates.

Cheers,
HI5LOFT
